Speak to a health care professional if pregnant, breastfeeding, on medication or have existing medical conditions. Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied diet and health lifestyle. Iodine can be harmful if taken in excess dosages. Store in a cool, dry place - out of the reach of children.
The Importance of Iodine, Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D
Iodine:
Iodine is an essential nutrient you have to get in your diet. The primary sources are white fish and dairy, with seaweed being the only natural and good plant based source of this essential nutrient.
Without sufficient iodine, your thyroid may not work as it should, as iodine is required in the production of thyroid hormones which have many impacts on your health and wellness. A diet insufficient in iodine can result in numerous health conditions, including an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism), with symptoms including weight gain/difficulty losing weight, tiredness, sensitivity to cold, depression, brittle hair and nails, dry skin and more (see the NHS website here for more info).
One of the main benefits of a natural source of iodine like seaweed is the fact it can be released into the body more slowly, and has longer retention compared to artificial sources such as potassium iodide for example. This was demonstrated in an independent research trial which demonstrated that the artificial iodine was excreted more quickly than that from our seaweed. For more information about the study, check out this article.
There are over 10,000 different types of seaweed, and we stick to just the one, knowing the iodine level of each batch and ensuring sustainable harvesting. The seaweed is carefully produced into a powder using proprietary technologies, and every batch is tested to for other aspects of nutrition and safety, along with unique traceability and DNA Authentication so you know exactly what it is you are getting

Vitamin B12:
B12 is an essential vitamin, and which can be lacking particularly in a vegan diet, as the main sources are animal based. Before it was discovered in the mid-20th century, scientists were unsure what was causing a wide range of health problems, and which turned out to be deficiencies in B12. This essential vitamin does not often occur naturally in plants, and when it does the sources are said to be inactive. However, the natural extracts used for Doctor Seaweed Immunity+ supplements are from mushrooms and provide an active form of B12 that is organic and plant-based.
Vitamin D3:
Vitamin D is obtained from two sources: diet and from the action of sunlight on your skin. An abundance of sunlight means you will get much of what is needed. However, you do also need sources from your diet. This is especially the case during winter months, if you are inside a lot of the time, have darker skin, and as you age due to a decline in your ability to produce vitamin D. The organic and plant-based source used in Doctor Seaweed Immunity+ supplements is extracted from lichens, which are an amazing symbiotic relationship between fungi and algae or cyanobacteria. The form extracted is vitamin D3, which is more commonly found from animal sources. Research shows that D3 can be more effective than D2 (normally found in plants) at being absorbed by the body.
Why Seaweed?
A Forgotten Food
Around 2.5 million years ago there was a transition from primitive to modern Homo sapiens. Research shows that at this time our ancestors moved to coastal environments and started eating seaweed. The nutrients that were (and still are!) in seaweed allowed for the evolution of the human brain. Seaweed is a natural rich iodine source which is essential for brain development, and forms a crucial part of this story.
Harvested in Pristine Scottish Sea Lochs
Our Organic Hebridean Ascophyllum Seaweed is sustainably wild harvested around the remote islands of the Scottish Outer Hebrides. These pristine waters are carefully monitored and managed with exclusive harvesting rights from the Crown Estate. Our seaweed is carefully dried and milled using our Patent Pending technologies which ensures high quality, nutrient rich, and fully traceable products from sea to store.
